Celebrating at the Writers Guild of America, Student Screenwriting winners Amber Dupre Second Place, Granada Hills Charter High School; Fahiya Rashid First Place, Hollywood High School; Samantha Brockschmidt Third Place, El Camino Real High School. In addition to prize money, industry mentorships, and script development workshops, all three girls won scholarships to the U.S.C. summer program to study screenwriting.

The Sally Picow Foundation’s latest Finalists for their innovative Screen Students program got the chance to meet Oscar-nominated actor Danny Glover on the set of his latest film, now shooting on the Sony lot. lover gave the students advice about their three scripts and about working in the entertainment industry. Samantha Elyse Brockschmidt from El Camino Real High School, Amber Dupre from Granada Hills Charter High School, and Fahiya Rashid from Hollywood High School are hard at work in a seven-month program of exploring script development, mentorship, and real-world entertainment industry experience. All three students will attend summer writing classes at the U.S.C. School of Cinema-Television in June and July. They are competing for $2,250 in prize money and are each mentored by ten-to-fifteen industry professionals; a group that includes studio and network executives, producers, writers, directors, agents, and managers.
